Video-Installation: DVD Pal 10 ', projector, speakers, room with black carpet, black cushions.
In the new exhibition of Sally Gutierrez Madrid audiences can see the first video installation Crying Room / patchworked Dreams (The Room of Tears / Dreams patched).
As part of its investigation during a stay in the Philippines Sally Gutierrez worked with rescue foundations under situations of violence, sexual abuse and trafficking. In the room of tears, the pain of damaged lives of these girls sinprocesar emerges in all its brutal intensity, and video installation combines immersion in this area of trauma with a critical look at the national and international contexts that create and perpetuate this reality.
"For a long time I thought about not using the footage with the girls in Preda, but when the curator and writer Philippine May Datuin invited me to participate with my video Tell Network in an exhibition llamadaTrauma Interrupted, I proposed to make a video that had to do with a very traumatic reality present in the Philippines (and the rest of the world). The result is the video installation Crying Room / patchworked Dreams, which until now had only been shown at that exhibition in Manila. Now, with the guarantee that will be discussed in a protected manner and in the right context, I present this facility in Madrid with the intention of drawing attention to the phenomena of abuse and exploitation that take place daily throughout the world.
